My first visit

What to Expect

Your child will receive a dental cleaning, radiographs as needed, and a thorough examination by Dr. Smith. We will discuss any restorative treatment needs that may be present as well as discuss how to best care for your child’s teeth at home including brushing and flossing technique, healthy snacks, and fluoride recommendations.

At North Hills Pediatric Dentistry you are welcome to be with your child at all times. Our goal is to develop a trusting relationship with your child and allow them to have a positive experience in receiving dental care. Studies have shown that most children react more positively when permitted to experience the dental visit on their own and in an environment designed for children. However, if you feel your presence would make your child more comfortable, you are welcome to accompany your child into the treatment room. There are instances, especially during restorative treatment, where you are asked to be a silent observer of the treatment only. For children 3 years of age and under, it is very helpful to have the parent in the room and often your child will be on your lap! For the safety and privacy of all patients at the office, we ask that all children who are not being treated remain in the reception room with a supervising adult.

Financing & insurance

Our office will help do everything possible to help you understand and make the most out of your insurance benefits. We will check your benefit coverage prior to your initial visit and submit your dental insurance claim to achieve the maximum reimbursement to which you are entitled.

Please be aware that some dental insurance companies take longer than others to complete payment. If necessary, our office will contact the dental insurance company. If we are unable to obtain payment from your dental insurance company, you will be responsible for the balance and contacting the insurance for payment. Payment for professional services is due at the time dental treatment is provided. Every effort will be made to provide a treatment plan which fits your timetable and budget, and which results in the best possible care for your child.
